More laurels have come into the kitty of Saint Columbanus
Secondary School, SCOSSI, Ikwen.
The latest is the National Championship of Universal Concept of
Mental Arithmetic System, UCMAS, Award.
Managing Director, UCMAS, GIRISH A. GURBANI at the just
concluded competition in Lagos described the performance of the
school as phenomenal.
Mr. GURBANI congratulated Master Felix Sifon Anthony student
of the school for coming top among one hundred and fifty students
drawn from all over the country for the competition.
Mr. Gurbani also felicitated the Principal Rev. Dr. Emem Umoren
on the feat describing St. Columbanus as an exceptional institution
with a dependable passion for the holistic formation of the young mind.
The Country Manager, Mr. Stephen Amoako announced that Master
Sifon, as the National Champion of UCMAS in Nigeria, has
consequently bagged the full sponsorship of UCMAS Nigeria to
represent Nigeria in the UCMAS International conference in
Malaysia later this year.
The Principal of SCOSSI, Fr. Emem Umoren in a remark expressed
excitement for the honor done the school by Master Sifon Anthony,
whom he said had become the National Champion of UCMAS.
Father Umoren also thanked the Akwa Ibom State Franchise,
Mrs. Docas Mbong, the Teachers, Mr. Enobong Isong and
Clement Ekong for a job well done.
According to the Principal, UCMAS, an acronym for “Universal
concept of the mental arithmetic system” is a Malaysian copyright
the intellectual program which activated key cognitive functions
such as memory, perception, symbolic learning and reasoning.
He advised parents to consider seeking admission into SCOSSI
for their wards, during ongoing admission for them to benefit
from the unique learning.
The school’s team which also bagged the second and third prizes
in the written competition had since returned to Ikwen to a warm
reception by staff, students and a cross-section of parents.
